Focus on the Music Ministry

The Ocean View's music program includes the Ocean View Choir, as well as a Praise Band. Both of these music ministry are under the leadership of Greg Walker, Director of Music. Greg is a very talented and highly skilled pianist who has graced Ocean View Church for more than fifteen years with his talent, dedication, and wit!

Adult Choir
We have a very active and great-sounding Adult Choir. They sing at both the 8:15 and 11:00 services on Sunday mornings and do several concerts throughout the year. This includes their huge Christmas production which is the highest attended event of the year. Anyone interested in joining is welcome as long as you can match pitch (carry a tune in a bucket). Music reading is not a requirement. You are welcome to sing at either/both services or only sing for special events.

"Rock of Faith" - Praise Band
Ocean View has a contemporary Praise Band called "Rock of Faith" which plays at the 9:30 am service on Sundays as well as other special events.  At this time we have an opening for another guitarist.  If you are interested you can contact to setup an “”.  If you play any other instrument, let us know and we will try to work you in, or there is room for new music ministries.

OVUMC A/V Team
This is an area we definitely have chances for you to serve! This is the group that takes care of all the Audio, Visual and Lighting needs for all of the events in the main sanctuary. Extensive skill is not necessary, but an understanding of how to operate stereo equipment is a must. The projection portion of this team consists of setting up announcement loops and lyric projection for services on a PC. If you are interested, PLEASE contact Greg.

DVD/Video Ministry
DVDs of our Sunday morning services are supplied to all of our shut-ins on a weekly basis. We are in need of someone to operate the camera controller (it’s very easy) at the 9:30 and 11:00 services.

Children’s Choir Program
Our latest Children’s Choir program began a few weeks ago.  It takes place during the 11:00am worship service.  Children ages 5-12 are invited to leave the service after the Children’s Time message to go and have fun singing, doing skits, playing instruments, etc.  We would love to have some extra help.

New Music opportunity at Ocean View

This project is still in the planning stages.  The funds are nearly in place and we are collecting a list of names of anyone who has ever played in and/or directed a Handbell Choir.  Hopefully within the next six months we will be ding-a-lingin.
