Focus on the Music Ministry

The Ocean View's music program includes the Ocean View Choir, as well as a Praise Band. Both of these music ministry are under the leadership of Greg Walker, Director of Music. Greg is a very talented and highly skilled pianist who has graced Ocean View Church for more than fifteen years with his talent, dedication, and wit!

Adult Choir
We have a very active and great-sounding Adult Choir. They sing at both the 8:15 and 11:00 services on Sunday mornings and do several concerts throughout the year. This includes their huge Christmas production which is the highest attended event of the year. Anyone interested in joining is welcome as long as you can match pitch (carry a tune in a bucket). Music reading is not a requirement. You are welcome to sing at either/both services or only sing for special events. Click here to view a video of the OVUMC Choir.

"Rock of Faith" - Praise Band
Ocean View has a contemporary Praise Band called "Rock of Faith" which plays at the 9:30 am service on Sundays as well as other special events. If you play an instrument, contact to express your interest in the music ministries. Click here to view a video the OVUMC Praise Band.

“Rock of Faith” would like to formally welcome its newest member, Lindsay Walker. Lindsay is taking over the keyboard duties from Gayle Walker, which will enable us to lower the average age and raise the average height of the band. (just kidding mom) So come to the 9:30 service and check it out!

OVUMC A/V Team
This is an area we definitely have chances for you to serve! This is the group that takes care of all the Audio, Visual and Lighting needs for all of the events in the main sanctuary. Extensive skill is not necessary, but an understanding of how to operate stereo equipment is a must. The projection portion of this team consists of setting up announcement loops and lyric projection for services on a PC. If you are interested, PLEASE contact Greg.

DVD/Video Ministry
DVDs of our Sunday morning services are supplied to all of our shut-ins on a weekly basis. We are in need of someone to operate the camera controller (it’s very easy) at the 9:30 and 11:00 services.

New Music opportunity at Ocean View

The bells are here and rehearsals have begun! The Handbell Choir is under the direction of Greg Walker. Rehearsals are now on Wed. from 5:45-6:45.  Open to all ages 12 and up as positions become available.  Music reading skills are a definite plus. Please contact Greg Walker at .
